Subject: Double exposure in A Christmas Carol
Wonderful to see so much & such early double exposure! This (1910) film was made a full decade before Victor Sjöström used it (1920) in The Phantom Carriage.
Subject: Christmas Carol
How can anyone hate A Christmas Carol especially at Christmas! Still this short could have used less intrusive music. I for one, am still looking for the version that was taken off the air in the 60's I believe because it was so frightening.
Subject: I love every version of Christmas Carol. The very first is GREAT.
I found it fascinating to find this very first movie version of Dickens's "Christmas Carol."
Of course, it is not as fancy as later versions, and its special effects are terrible, but you have to remember that we are spoiled by movies that are an entire century younger.
What amazes me is that they got just about everything into the eleven minutes of movie. Some people might complain that the movie does not make sense, that it leaves too much out, but I would imagine that back in 1910, people read the book before they saw a movie, so the general public already knew the story before they saw the movie.
Even today, some movies make more sense if you have read the book, than if you have not. Just try watching the DUNE movies if you have not read the book, and see what I mean.
This is a wonderful movie.
Im not sure I could have followed the story without knowing it but It was worth watching. I think I will listen to some Christmas songs now. I LOVE CHRISTMAS.
Subject: Really nice
I love to see really old silent movies like this. Well done!

Subject: Condensed A Christmas Carol... or... Scrooge on Speed!
Really well worth watching. For those of us who know and love the story it is amazing that 1910 was able to capture the main high points of the story and express the sentiment and mood of Dickens in just under 11 eleven minutes. It really is a fine job of remastering. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

I'm giving this the highest rating based upon the year in was filmed and the restoration values. Of course the story is a classic.
Subject: Not a review
I just wanted to say thank you for posting this film, and Merry Christmas to all.
Subject: Excellent remaster!
The special effects are quite elaborate for 1910. The music choices are effective as well. The story was condensed well, and the acting is typical silent film acting. Well worth the download.
